About Left Of The Dial Records

My record collection all started back in 1970, when on my way home from school one night I nipped into my local record shop and emerged with a copy of Frank Zappa’s Hot Rats, which to this day is still one of my favourite albums. I was amazed - this was such a revolutionary sound for me having been brought up on The Beatles and The Rolling Stones like everybody of the same age. So, that was it. This started an addiction which is still far from being beaten.

I have now, over the years, accumulated thousands of vinyl and CD albums. During this time, I have come across many which, at the time, I considered ground-breaking recordings. Listed below are just some of these albums:

  • The Beatles – Rubber Soul
  • Frank Zappa – Hot Rats
  • Stephen Stills – Stephen Stills 2
  • Emerson, Lake, & Palmer – Emerson, Lake, & Palmer
  • Bruce Springsteen – The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle
  • Television – Marquee Moon
  • The Pixies – Surfer Rosa
  • Big Black – Atomizer
  • Jason Isbell – Southeast
  • Hard Working Americans – Rest in Chaos

Diverse? Yes, and not to everybody’s taste, but that’s the beauty of this business. We all have our favourites. Why not send me your list and I can publish yours on this page.

So, that brings me to “Left Of The Dial Records”. The name is taken from a Replacements song called “Left Of The Dial”, which appears on the album Tim. It is a reference to finding smaller independent stations on the radio, where you are more likely to find underground and garage bands on independent labels. It also happens to be a fantastic track from a brilliant band.

From my company, you are able to purchase vinyl records covering many different genres, from Americana and folk to punk and grunge. I also provide quality old and new vinyls as well as highly collectible rare vinyls. Do not hesitate to give me a call for more information about the records I have for sale. Your "Wish List" more than welcome.
